WHY?

BECAUSE Man has been drawing on the wall since prehistoric time

BECAUSE Children naturally think in pictures before they learn words

BECAUSE We want to make complex ideas simple

BECAUSE We can only focus
on up to 7 things at a time

BECAUSE We want effective business communication

Graphic Recording is like

Catching important ideas and throwing them on the wall

Sweeping leaves into piles

Highlighting stars in the sky so you can join the dots

Boiling and distilling the truth

Scooping fish into different buckets

SGGR June 27 Meetup

Door gifts for early birds
Clothes peg style paper clips from Copenhagen
Nyonya cake moulds from Penang

Agenda for 27 June 2015 SGGR: created by open space technology
Ticket sales were via eventbrite, with attractive early bird discount.
Electronic ticketing and booking helps with logistics and catering.

First item was a demo of my Z-fold  portable 3x6 foot graphic wall.
It was an interactive demo where participants were guided to unfold and assemble the 13 mm foam core board.
and mount it on my extended easels
And clip the 3x6 foot chart on it.

Then the open space
Participants were invited to create A5 size tickets with topics they wanted to discuss.

9 tickets were generated.
each creator outlined what the topic was about.
The 9 topics were clustered into four groups.
There was general consensus that the whole group was interested in all 4 clusters.

The four clusters were each allocated a time slot
1) TeKaTiNi
2) on logistics and portable boards
3) a cluster of visual recording tips
4) Icon jam
And a timekeeper was allocated

How do you hold your marker?

Do you only use BigOne?

Generate a list of what we need
Different names or types of paper we can use....
Foam core boards....

Through thick and thin....

Participants comments:
Great to hear everyone's experiences:

Teketini especially great as a reminder and opener - would love kinesthetic activities/warm up for each session.

It was very helpful to see, feel and use the z-fold board setup!

Thanks for the generous sharing of ideas and tips!

I learn something new every time I attend the SgGR meetup session.

Really great!  A fruitful learning session!
