PechaKucha 20X20

PechaKucha or Pecha Kucha (Japanese: ペチャクチャ, IPA: [petɕa ku͍̥tɕa],
(chit-chat) is a presentation style in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each (six minutes and 40 seconds in total). It is also known as 20X20.  The format, which keeps presentations concise and fast-paced, powers multiple-speaker events called PechaKucha Nights (PKNs).

PechaKucha Night was devised in February 2003 by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham of Tokyo's Klein-Dytham Architecture (KDa), as a way to attract people to SuperDeluxe, their experimental event space in Roppongi, and to allow young designers to meet, show their work, and exchange ideas.

In 2004, a few cities in Europe began holding PKNs, the first of several hundred cities that have since launched similar events around the world. As of June 2012, PechaKucha Nights were held in 534 cities worldwide.

Volume 9, 23 August 2013 PechaKucha Night will be collaborating with business school for the world, INSEAD. The event, to be held at a beautiful venue in the Asian Civilisations Museum, will feature accomplished INSEAD alumni, academic staff, and students sharing their insights on innovation, organization, game-changers, communities and even jazz and wine’s link to happiness.

PechaKucha Night x INSEAD speaker topics include: disruptive technological innovations of past and future; next generation organizations; philosophies for game-changing entrepreneurs; human behaviour and psychological mechanisms to happiness; battles for better society; and many other thought provoking concepts.

PechaKucha Night x INSEAD’s speakers include:
  • Louis Lim (Partner, Bain & Co.)
  • Olivier Carnohan (CEO, SingTel SoftBank !nnoventures)
  • Juliette Miremont Morton (Founder, HerVietnam.com)
  • Roger E. Egan III (Founder, CEO, RedMart)
  • Sue Adams (Executive Coach, Bamboo Coaching and Consulting)
  • Neil Bearden (Associate Professor, Decision Sciences, INSEAD)
  • Manuel Sosa (Associate Professor, Technology and Operations Management, INSEAD)
  • Vinayagan Dharmarajah (Associate Director, Legal and Administration, INSEAD)
  • Weiwen Chen (INSEAD MBA Class of July 2013)
  • ... more speakers to be announced
My particular interest, and why I will be attending Volume 9, 23 August 2013 PechaKucha Night, is seeing if this mode of presentation is applicable to our CHE regional conference meetings:

20 slides, 20 seconds each: Total 6 minutes 40 seconds.
The images advance automatically. A short 2 minutes for Q&A.
